James Scott has taken his two decades of teaching experience and a devotion to fix Hermosa Beach's overcrowded schools problem onto the campaign trail in hopes of capturing a seat on the school board.

“I'm a candidate in this race because I believe my background in K-5 instruction and education management align closely with the needs of our district,” Scott said. “And I believe my experience can be a benefit.”

With three terms on City Council, incumbent Peter Tucker is this campaign season’s veteran candidate. And he’s hoping to prove that being a Hermosan for nearly half a century with a record for accomplishing goals makes him an ideal person to lead a city that’s nearing a development crossroads.
