Police were searching for a man accused of groping a girl at the Metlox Plaza in Manhattan Beach last week, officials said Monday, Feb. 15.

The girl, whose age was not specified, was walking with a friend through the common area of the plaza at 451 Manhattan Beach Blvd. when the man approached them, Manhattan Beach police said in a statement.

As he walked by the girl, he reached toward the victim and touched her groin area, police said.

The girl and the friend fled, and so did the man.

He was described as Hispanic, 30 to 40 years old with bushy eyebrows, a dark beard and dark hair and eyes. He was wearing a zip-up hoodie, dark pants and a beanie.

The girl worked with a sketch artist from the Torrance Police Department to create an image of the suspect.

Police asked that anyone with information to contact Detective Jennifer Leach at or the department’s anonymous Tip Line at 310-802-5171.
