Grades of Green, the environmental nonprofit that started at Grand View Elementary in Manhattan Beach, recently honored LAcarGUY Mike Sullivan and Paul Mitchell’s John Paul DeJoria at its annual Verte gala in Marina del Rey.

At the event, DeJoria, co-founder of Paul Mitchell and Patrón Spirits Company, surprised attendees by announcing an endowment for Grades of Green, boosted by an inital $10,000 donation. The nonprofit is a passion of Sullivan’s. Over the last five years LAcarGUY and Subaru Pacific have donated more than $111,000 to further Grades of Green’s mission of inspiring students to care for the environment.

“These gentleman are true pioneers in sustainable business practices and philanthropy,” said Kim Martin, co-executive director of Grades of Green. “(We have) been so lucky to partner with them to inspire and empower students and the broader school community to care for the environment.”
