Police are searching for a 31-year-old man they say stabbed and injured another man at the Crimson Hotel in Manhattan Beach at around 2:45 a.m. on Friday, officials said.

Officers responding to a call found a man who had been stabbed multiple times in his hotel room, police said in a statement. The Manhattan Beach Fire Department took the victim to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery and was expected to survive, police Detective Michael Rosenberger said.

Investigators said they believe Lee Simpson, whose city of residence wasn’t known but frequents the South Bay area, was the man who stabbed the victim, Rosenberger said.

“This is believed to be an isolated incident as suspect Simpson and the victim are known to each other,” police said.

Anyone who sees Simpson is asked to call 911 immediately. Manhattan Beach police ask anyone with information on Simpson’s whereabouts to contact their tipline at 310-802-5171.
