A 39-year-old Colorado man was arrested after leading Redondo Beach police officers on a brief pursuit, then holing himself up in a Manhattan Beach hotel room for hours Tuesday morning, April 20, authorities said.

Redondo Beach SWAT officers descended on the hotel in the 900 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard sometime after the pursuit, which started about 7:15 a.m. when officers spotted a stolen vehicle in the area of Artesia and Aviation boulevards, Lt. Shawn Freeman said.

The suspect allegedly drove north and ran into the hotel complex. Officers set up a containment and used security cameras and witness statements to narrow down which hotel room the suspect entered.

The suspect, identified as Ryan Cross of Colorado Springs, surrendered to officers after they made contact with him inside the hotel room, Freeman said.

Cross was accused of being in possession of a stolen vehicle and evading police, Freeman said. He was being held in jail on $75,000 bail.

The vehicle Cross was spotted in was reported stolen out of San Jose, Freeman said. It wasn’t immediately known if Cross was staying in the hotel where he was arrested.
