Two men were arrested in Hermosa Beach on suspicion of pulling a replica revolver and robbing two victims early Friday morning, Jan. 17, authorities said Saturday.

Hermosa Beach police were called to the 800 block of Hermosa Avenue about 1:30 a.m. Friday in response to a robbery that had just occurred, police said.

The victims told police that two suspects approached them and asked about the local bar scene.

One of the men then pulled a revolver from his waistband and demanded the victims’ wallets and cell phones. The victims complied and the suspects fled on foot west toward the beach and then north on The Strand, police said.

Officers quickly located one of the suspects near 11th Street and Hermosa Avenue. The other was located a short time later near 11th Street and Beach Drive.

They were identified as 18-year-old Christian Jesus Torres of Torrance and 24-year-old Baldwin Noe Anaya of Hawthorne. Both men were arrested about 2 a.m. and booked on suspicion of robbery.

Police said Anaya pulled the revolver and it turned out to be a replica.

Both suspects were being held in jail on $50,000 bail.
