A glamorous old Hollywood Riviera mansion, currently listed at $8.9 million, will be auctioned off to the highest bidder through Concierge Auctions online marketplace May 7 through 12.

The estate is located in Torrance but has a Redondo Beach address. It has been on and off the market since 2019 for as much as $14.9 million and dropped to its current ask in March.

As a no reserve auction, there is no set opening bid.

Sited on a half-acre on Via Monte Doro, the six-bedroom, 6,756-square-foot home was built by Hollywood Riviera founder Clifford F. Reid in 1928. International artisans were brought in to create stained glass windows, hand-painted fresco ceilings and ironwork.

There are hand-finished plaster walls and the imported Italian tile floors were painted on the premises.

Other highlights include a sunroom, library and upstairs master suite with ocean views.

Although the house retains its 1920s character, updates were made to the electrical system, kitchen and bathrooms. That goes for the master bathroom, which boasts a glass-enclosed shower and clawfoot tub.

The early bid process allows potential buyers a chance to view the property, with scheduled showings from 1 to 4 p.m. daily and by appointment.

Ed Kaminsky of Strand Hill Properties at Christie’s International Real Estate is the listing agent on the property.
