The Bay League finals for swimming were held and the Redondo Union girls’ team is this year’s team champion after all the individual and relay events were completed at Redondo Union last Thursday.
Peninsula won the boys title.
The Redondo Union girls won the title convincingly by more than 100 points. The final score was Redondo Union 535.5 points to Peninsula’s 434. Mira Costa was third with 422.5 and Palos Verdes fourth with 248.
Peninsula held of Mira Costa to take the boys title with 493 points to 478. Redondo Union was not far behind in third place with 430 points. Palos Verdes was fourth with 243.
The biggest win on the day came in the freshmen/sophomore competition where the Redondo Union girls’ team dominated with 213 points to win it over Mira Costa’s 93. Peninsula was third and Palos Verdes was fourth.
In the freshmen/sophomore boys’ competition, Mira Costa held off Redondo Union with 164 points to 136. Peninsula was third and Palos Verdes fourth.
The swimmers will now prepare for the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 meet Friday and Saturday at the Riverside Aquatics Complex at Riverside City College.
