The Mira Costa boys’ tennis team saw its overall record suffer its first loss recently, but in the Bay League the Mustangs remain unbeaten after winning in a tiebreaker on the road at Palos Verdes last Tuesday.

With the score tied 9-9 in games, it was down to who won the most games and in the end, it was Mira Costa winning 77-67.

Mira Costa is now in control of the Bay League race with a 4-0 mark, 16-1 overall. It just needs to keep winning.

Tim Dzhurinskiy won three games by the scores of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0 in singles. Matthew Poh won two games 6-1, 6-0 and Kyle Sillman won two games 6-4 and 6-2.

Mira Costa picked up two important points in doubles.

Max Weulfing/Ethan Han won one game 6-0; and Kyle Chen/Nick Darrow won one game 6-4.

A win over Peninsula would certainly clinch the title for Mira Costa when that time comes.

They also have a match with rival Redondo Union remaining, but won the first time easily.
