Mira Costa’s Kyle Sillman is this year’s Bay League Individuals champion in singles.
It was an all-Mira Costa final as Sillman beat teammate Matthew Poh 6-4, 4-6, 11-9 in the singles championship at the Jack Kramer Club in Rolling Hills Estates last Tuesday.
“This is the first time in program history that both finalists at Bay League Individuals are from Mira Costa,” said head coach Joe Ciasulli.
Sillman advanced by defeating teammate Max Weulfing in one semifinal 7-5, 6-2.
Poh advanced by defeating Kevin Liu of Peninsula in the other semifinal 6-7(5), 6-2, and 10-8.
“A great day for Mustang tennis,” Ciasulli said.
Sillman and Poh will now compete in the CIF-Southern Section Individuals as well.
In doubles championship, Kai Brady/Sean Holt of Palos Verdes defeated Stetson Martz/Nabeel Kahn from Peninsula by a score of 6-1. 6-1.
Brady/Holt advanced by defeating Ethan Han/Max Weulfing from Mira Costa in one semifinal 6-3. 6-2.
