X, one of the first bands to arrive on the punk rock scene in Los Angeles in 1977, kicked off BeachLife Festival at a performance at the Crowne Plaza in Redondo Beach last night.

The band, featuring Exene Cervenka, John Doe, Billy Zoom and DJ Bonebrake, celebrated 40 years of music in 2017.

X played as part of a VIP kickoff after the World Surf League's Big Wave Surf Awards and the premiere of the film “White Rhino,” hosted by Jim Lindberg and Tony Alva.

The inaugural South Bay music festival takes place this weekend at Seaside Lagoon and surrounding areas with headliners Bob Weir, Brian Wilson and Willie Nelson.
