El Segundo police on Tuesday released security-video images of a man suspected of robbing a woman at gunpoint as she walked to her car in the parking lot of The Point shopping center over the weekend.

The suspect, described by police as African-American and in his early 20s, is seen wearing a red T-shirt with a Nike swoosh and skinny jeans in footage taken from the parking lot behind the North Italia restaurant at about 4 p.m. Sunday. The man is 5-feet-4 to 5-feet-6 and weighs 125 to 145 pounds, police said. He had a shaved head and a line shaved into his left eyebrow.

Police said he pointed a black handgun at the 29-year-old victim and demanded her Samsung Galaxy cellphone. The woman handed over the phone and ran away, and the man got into a black Chevrolet Trax SUV, which sped off west through the parking lot and onto Pacific Coast Highway, Sgt. Aaron Corkins said.

The getaway driver was a woman, police said, and the SUV had paper plates from the Nissani Bros. car dealership in Culver City.

Police asked anyone with information to call them at 310-524-2263.
