Several hours of negotiations from a Manhattan Beach Police Department Crisis Negotiation team led to the arrest of a Hermosa Beach man on Saturday night.
On Jan. 26 at 11:53 p.m., Hermosa Beach Police and Manhattan Beach Police responded to the 2800 block of Amby Place after a male caller there dialed 9-1-1 and claimed to have shot his girlfriend with a high-powered rifle.
The caller also stated he had planted two bombs in and around his residence.
When Hermosa police arrived, they found an unoccupied pickup truck in the driveway with the engine idling.
According to police, in an abundance of caution, they sealed off the area, evacuated neighbors directly adjacent to the site and requested additional resources.
After several hours, MBPD's crisis negotiators made telephone contact with the suspect, 49-year-old Adam Perry Lang.
Lang ultimately agreed to exit the front door of the residence and was taken into custody without incident.
Police found no victims, weapons or explosive devices. Lang was charged with making criminal threats.
