Press Release Sketch Rape Suspect August 2018

Manhattan Beach police released this sketch and are asking the public's help to locate a suspect who raped a woman and fled through the front door of her residence, Aug. 26. 

Manhattan Beach police are looking for a man who they said raped a woman in her home on Sunday night, the department said Monday.

Officers responded to a call near 9th Street and Valley Drive at roughly 9 p.m., police said.

The department said in a statement the woman entered her house at around 8:30 p.m. Shortly after that, a man followed her into the house through the front door, then sexually assaulted and raped her.

Officials said the woman did not sustain additional physical injuries, but was transported to a hospital for sexual assault evaluation.

The suspect was described as an African American man in his early 40s, police said. He is 6 feet 2 inches tall, with an athletic build, medium complexion and a thin mustache. He was wearing tan shorts, a dark t-shirt and gray tennis shoes.
