A 28-year-old male driver who hit two pedestrians, killing one of them, in Redondo Beach, turned himself in and was arrested, authorities said Thursday, Sept. 6.
Nathan Greenberg of Redondo Beach surrendered to police Wednesday after allegedly hitting a man and woman, who were crossing Artesia Boulevard, and then fleeing the scene. The collision occurred in the 1900 block of Artesia Boulevard about 2 a.m. Monday, Sept. 3.
The crash killed 36-year-old Iryna Miller of Redondo Beach.
The man who was with Miller suffered several fractures, including a skull fracture and internal injuries, Lt. Shawn Freeman said. He is in stable condition in the intensive care unit at a local hospital, Freeman said.
The pair attempted to cross Artesia Boulevard from the north sidewalk near the intersection with Green Avenue. It wasn’t known if the victims were in a crosswalk when they were hit by Greenberg, who continued driving westbound on Artesia Boulevard after the collision.
Greenberg was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run and will make a court appearance on Dec. 5 at Torrance Superior Court, Freeman said.
Further details about the collision, including whether drugs or alcohol were a factor, were not immediately available. Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact Investigator Clint Daniel at 310-379-2477, ext. 2721.
