Residential burglary

Jewelry, cash, televisions, electronic gadgets and miscellaneous property was stolen from a home in the 1400 block of Poinsettia Ave. on Jan. 21. The suspect(s) shattered a sliding glass door to gain entry.

A laptop was stolen from a car in an open garage in the 3600 block of The Strand between Jan. 21 and 22.

Jewelry and designer purses were stolen from a residence in the 2900 block of Walnut Ave. on Jan. 17 after a sliding glass door was smashed.

Hermosa Beach

Vandalism

City property was vandalized with spray paint in the 700 block of Pier Ave. between Jan. 15 and 16.

Fraud

Unknown suspect altered and modified victim's check and fraudulently deposited money from the victim's account in the 900 block of Aviation Ave. between Jan. 8 and 15.

Burglary

Tools and electrical cable were stolen from a construction site in the 2700 block of Manhattan Ave. between Jan. 14 and 18.

Theft

Invalid theater tickets were sold to the victim in the 200 block of Longfellow Ave. between Jan. 13 and 14.

A bicycle was stolen from the 1300 block of Hermosa Ave. on Jan. 10.

A parking pass was stolen in the 1000 block of Monterey Ave. on Jan. 15.

Packages from a mailroom were stolen in the 400 block of Herondo St. between Jan. 12 and 13.

Redondo Beach

Assault with a deadly weapon

A mother was reportedly threatened by her son with a sword in the 2500 block of Vanderbilt Lane on Jan. 9. According to police, they had become involved in a verbal argument over financial issues. During the argument, the son reportedly armed himself with a sword and threatened to kill his mother. She ran out of the apartment and yelled to a nearly juvenile to call police. Police arrived and arrested the son.

Target robbery

Three suspects were arrested after robbing a Target store, located in the 1600 block of Kingsdale Ave., and assaulting employees on Jan. 9. Loss prevention began monitoring the suspects when they entered the store, according to police. They were reportedly observed concealing merchandise into bags and on their persons. When they were confronted by loss prevention, they reportedly refused to go to their office and they pushed the employees. One of the suspects reportedly hit a security employee and another suspect grabbed an employees hooded sweatshirt. The suspects were later detained inside the underground parking structure by Redondo police.

Naked man

A naked man was reported running into businesses in the 2700 and 2800 block of Artesia Blvd. on Jan. 18. Officers arrived and detained the man without force. The Mental Evaluation Team also responded and committed him to nearby psychiatric hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Felony warrant arrest

A man with an outstanding felony warrant was arrested after reportedly not paying his hotel bill in the 200 block of S. Pacific Coast Highway on Jan. 19. The suspect jumped off the second story balcony in an attempt to escape, but is arrested after a short foot pursuit.

Illegal firearm possession

A man was arrested for illegal firearm possession at Carnegie Lane and Perkins Lane in the early morning hours of Jan. 20. Officers reportedly saw three suspicious people in a car in a residential neighborhood that had experienced an elevated crime rate. The suspects attempted to hide from the officer prior to being contacted. A loaded .45 caliber handgun was found in the suspect's car. The driver was arrested and told police that he carried the weapon for personal protection.
