Possession of narcotics
A female juvenile was reportedly caught with marijuana and a switchblade at Redondo Union High School on Monday, Oct. 8. According to police, the juvenile left school without permission and was caught off campus in violation of daytime curfew municipal code. She was escorted back to campus where her backpack was searched. In the backpack, she reportedly possessed a knife with a folding and locking blade, marijuana, marijuana in pill form, pipes and tobacco related products.
Grand theft, reckless pursuit
Four suspects were arrested following theft in the 1800 block of Hawthorne Blvd. and a police chase Monday, Oct. 8, beginning at 4:57 p.m. Several female suspects were seen getting into a silver Nissan after they reportedly stole merchandise from a store in the mall. When the officer saw the suspects laying down in the car, the suspects fled. They they began throwing the stolen property out of the car's windows. A pursuit ensued. The suspects traveled onto the 405 freeway southbound where they crashed at Crenshaw Boulevard. One adult and three juveniles were taking into custody.
After leaving unknown bars in Hermosa Beach, a man was arrested for domestic battery, obstructing an officer and public intoxication at the intersection of Aviation and Artesia boulevards on Friday, Oct. 12, before midnight. The couple had a flat tire after leaving the bars and pulled over the check the tire. An argument ensued and the male suspect was reportedly seen dragging the female and trying to force her into the car. The first officer arrived on the scene and the man was uncooperative and force was required to place him under arrest. Manhattan Beach police officers arrived and assisted with the suspect and the heavily intoxicated female victim.
DUI traffic collision
A woman was arrested in the 2200 block of 190th Street after crashing into a wall of a business on Oct. 13. An employee attempted to keep her at the location but she got back into her vehicle and left. An officer located the car at 190th Street and Blossom Lane where it had collided with a fire hydrant, shearing it off. She was placed under arrest for DUI and was later found to be on DUI probation.
Two were arrested after stealing a bicycle from an underground parking lot of a residential building in the 900 block of Camino Real on Oct. 10. An officer observed a man and woman take the front wheel off of a bicycle and place it in the back seat of a car. He stopped the suspects and determined that the bike had been stolen. The suspects were arrested for possession of stolen property and later charged with residential burglary.
A bicycle was taken at 4:24 p.m. Oct. 11 from a garage in the 2100 block of Farrell Lane. The suspect left behind another bicycle prior to the theft which was taken as evidence. Officers saturated the area but were unable to locate the stolen bicycle or suspect.
A suspicious suspect was captured on surveillance footage peering into a vehicle and leaving visible handprint at 12:56 a.m. Oct 8 near the intersection of Diamond Street and Pacific Coast Highway. The suspect has been confirmed to have outstanding warrants and an extensive criminal history.
Property was stolen overnight on Oct. 10 in 2000 block of Farrell Lane. The owner of the vehicle may have left his rear window open and returned to his car the morning of Oct. 11 to find property missing. There was no suspect information as of press time.
