The first best picture Oscar winner, “Wings,” in 1927, comes to the Old Town Music Hall, located at 140 Richmond St. in El Segundo, May 17, 18 and 19.
The Old Town Music Hall was built in 1921 and was taken over by two musicians in 1968 as a nonprofit organization to preserve classic film and music. The centerpiece of this unique theater is the Mighty Wurlitzer theater pipe organ that was built in 1925 to accompany silent films. Before each film, there is an old-fashioned audience sing-along and a short silent comedy accompanied by the pipe organ.
Screenings of “Wings” are Friday at 8:15 p.m.; Saturday, 2:30 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.; and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
General admission is $10 and seniors over 62 are $8.
