For the first time in the show's history, the Teen Choice 2019 awards will be broadcast live from the beach.
The city of Hermosa Beach announced today it will host the show on Sunday, Aug. 11. The show, which gives teens the power to select the winners, features performances by stars from TV, music, film and social media.
Hermosa Beach Mayor Stacey Armato said the city is thrilled to host the show that will air live from 8 to 10 p.m. on the east coast and via tape delay from 8 to 10 p.m. on the west coast on Fox.
“This awards show will be a great opportunity to showcase Hermosa Beach to audiences around the country and, even more importantly, provide our teens with an exciting and free musical event on their own hometown sand,” Armato said.
The awards show will feature a surf-and-sand dance number that will set the stage for performances and surprise viral moments.
For more than two decades, the show has presented performances and appearances by pop culture stars. In 2018, the Teen Choice awards featured a medley of hit songs by Khalid, as well as performances by Meghan Trainor, Lauv, Bebe Rexha and Foster the People.
